About Activate Charity

Activate Charity is a youth development charity supporting children and young people across Hertsmere and neighbouring communities.

We deliver structured after-school, weekend, and holiday programmes designed to reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

Our programmes engage young people through a diverse range of activities delivered in natural and green environments. We focus particularly on supporting children and young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, providing opportunities that broaden horizons, develop social skills, and encourage positive engagement away from excessive screen time.

We also organise inspirational day trips and educational visits to iconic destinations and attractions, including sporting venues, cultural landmarks, and historical sites across London and the South East.

Activities are delivered by dedicated volunteers and professionals and include:

Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Insurance

The safety and wellbeing of the children and young people we support is our highest priority.

Activate Charity is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants, volunteers, staff, and visitors.

Safeguarding

  • We operate robust safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • All activities involving children and young people are appropriately supervised.
  • Volunteers and corporate partners receive clear guidance regarding their roles and responsibilities.
  • Any volunteer undertaking regulated activity will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks in line with legislation.

Health & Safety

  • Risk assessments are undertaken for all activities and events.
  • Appropriate health and safety procedures are in place across programmes and facilities.
  • Volunteers and visitors receive relevant safety information before participation.

Insurance

Activate Charity maintains appropriate insurance arrangements to support its activities, including public liability insurance and other relevant cover.
